As
a Family Life Educator and Church Marriage Programs
Coordinator, I have found the book "15 Minutes to
Build a Stronger Marriage" by Bobbie & Myron
Yagel to be an extremely beneficial resource at many levels.
The title “15 Minutes to Build a Stronger Marriage” at
first glance sounds to be overly simplified (and it is
simple).
But, any couple who invests just 15 minutes a
week using the principles and exercises presented , will
develop practical
new skills and a deeper level of intimacy, often
elusive in today’s busy consumer culture.
I
recommend it for individual couples looking for a little new
life in their relationship and we also send it, along with a
pastoral letter of encouragement, to couples at their 1 year
anniversary who were married at our large Presbyterian
Church. We have also used it with groups as the outline and
text for Marriage Enrichment Sunday School Classes and have
used selected exercises for marriage retreats.
It
presents useful principles even in cross cultural settings
and has been translated and used by Family Ministries
Leaders (Youth With a Mission) in Norway and Korea as a
primary tool for Family Camps and Seminars in those and
other nations as well as for equipping Family Ministries
workers.
It
provides useful principles for Christian living which
reflect both sound secular research and Biblical revelation
making it equally appropriate in secular and non-secular
settings. I unequivocally recommend this book for all
couples whether they are in need of help or are just wanting
to develop a greater level of intimacy.
Sincerely,
Bob
