Blending Families Workshop Feb 22-23, 2002 Co-sponsored by St Giles Presbyterian Church, All Saints Episcopal Church, Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church & Child Development Center, Christian Marriage Formation, Diocese of Richmond ...

The event at All Saints Episcopal Church with Speakers Rev Dick & Betty Dunn  was a great success with 103 participants from 30 churches and 6 un-churched couples. Several churches had groups of 5 or more couples which make a natural start for a support group.

A Support Group was formed and at St Giles Presbyterian Church.  Link for more info.  Additional Support Groups are forming... contact us for more info or to start one at your church!                282-9763(13)

Info on event:

Dear Pastor & Marriage Ministry leaders,

Will you join together to support Blending Families in our community? A recent article by Dr David Swift is entitled Stepfamilies: Tomorrow's Nuclear Family?  It is predicted to be the predominant family form in America by the 21st Century?  If you include extended family as being members of a stepfamily, then well over half of the American population is already associated with a stepfamily. Stepfamilies are complex but there is hope. Your stepfamily can be a source of unending joy and fulfilling experiences. It does not come easy, but nothing worthwhile does. This workshop will help you discover the mounds of ideas and directives designed to help you mold the successful stepfamily.

Workshop Leaders The Rev. Dick and Betty Dunn.  For 16 years Dick served as Minister of Singles and Stepfamilies at Roswell United Methodist Church near Atlanta, where they developed one of the most successful Stepfamily Ministries in America.  They have written several related books including: “Willing to Try Again”, “New Faces in the Frame”, “Preparing to Marry Again”, and “I Don’t Want a New Mommy”. They have appeared on a number of TV programs including: Good Morning America, 20/20, CNN the Bradshaw show, and others. They are captivating and powerful speakers you won’t want to miss

  • Send potential leaders to start a Support group in your congregation for your community.

  • Support Marriage Builders Alliance in your annual budget.

  • Become a co-sponsoring congregation: We need 5-6 churches to contribute about $200-500 each. They will be listed as co-sponsors with Marriage Builders Alliance.  All Saints Episcopal Church, Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, Christian Marriage Formation, Diocese of Richmond and St Giles Presbyterian Church are already co-sponsors… won’t you please join them.
