Clergy / Marriage Mentor Training using FOCCUS / REFOCCUS Inventory.

NOTE:    While we are still training mentor couples, we will be primarily using PREPARE/ENRICH relationship inventories and exercises  in the future unless you already have some mentors trained with FOCCUS and want to continue. link here

FOCCUS  is a complete basic package that has been used by St Matthews & All Saints Episcopal, Mechanicsville Christian Center, New Hanover and Crestwood Presbyterian, Christian Tabernacle Baptist, Trinity UMC, St John Neuman and St Michaels Catholic Church, St Paul's Baptist, First African Baptist, New Canaan International, Harvest Renewal, Greater Nazarene, Master’s House and others)

Materials included:

  • REFOCCUS Inventory; one per couple.
  • FOCCUS Facilitator's Manual; one per couple
  • Exercises & Homework sheets for each couple.

Optional: Follow-up after 1-3  months to review a real FOCCUS Inventory Report and highlight areas of concern.

Additional Follow-on Training recommended:

 “A Lasting Promise Workshop”  Based on Christian PREP  or “Fighting For Your Marriage”  Powerful tools and concepts based on solid Research AND Biblical Principles.  This complete marriage workshop teaches skills that will help develop and maintain a stronger marriage for years to come.   Program includes:  Communication and Problem solving skills; Ground Rules for handling disagreement and conflict and promoting Intimacy; Identifying “Danger Signs” in your communication; Plus: Commitment; Forgiveness; Friendship ; and Spiritual Intimacy. Directions:   From the east, either HWY 64 west to Gaskins.  North on Gaskins about 2 miles, a mile past Broad St., turn left at the Springfield Road stop light.  The church is on your right about 400 yeards  down Springfield.

 or,  HWY 295 to Nuchols Road east.  Go to the dead end, turn right on Springfield.  Go about three quarters mile and the church is on your left.

From the west, 64 or Broad St. to Gaskins and follow the directions above.

From the South, over the James River Bridge, River Road to Gaskins, north about 5 miles across Broad St. and follow the directions above.  You can also take HWY 288 to HWY 64 east, exit at Gaskins and follow the directions above.
